As energy costs continue to rise, National Grid has committed $17 million in additional funding to help customers manage higher energy bills this winter. Customers that are not enrolled in a local Municipal Aggregation program or in an individual contract with a third-party supplier will see an increased Basic Service electric rate starting November 1st. The Winter Customer Savings Initiative offers payment assistance programs for income-eligible customers, residential and business energy efficiency programs and incentives, bill management solutions, and flexible payment programs.
As a reminder, Auburn residents can enroll in the Town’s Municipal Aggregation Program at NO COST and at any time. This is an elective program open to all residents! Beginning with November 2022 meter reads, the Municipal Aggregation rate will be $0.23822 per kWh. This is thirty percent lower than National Grid’s proposed winter Residential Basic Service price of $0.33891 per kWh and twenty-six percent lower than National Grid’s winter Commercial Basic Service price of $0.32287 per kWh.
