Friends of the Auburn Senior Center Association
The Friends of the Auburn Senior Center Association, Inc. (FASCA) is a support group for the Auburn Senior Center, both financially and morally. The Friends cover the expenses that are not a part of the Town of Auburn Council on Aging budget or supplemental grants that might be available from both public and private funding sources. The members raise revenues and assist the Council on Aging by providing large and small necessities for the Senior Center.
Fundraising Events
FASCA often holds special events to raise funds for the center, including pancake breakfasts, summer cookouts, trips and the twice-weekly 50/50 drawings held on Thursday prior to Bingo and Friday night at the Pitch Party, but a continuing source of income for FASCA is the Memorial Fund.
Donations / Memberships
The fund was started with a donation from the family of Minnie Sunderland upon her death in July of 1990. Minnie was a fervent supporter of the Auburn Senior Center, as well as a much-loved individual and could usually be found at the center playing Bingo. Many think that the Memorial fund is only a way to donate in memory of someone, but life cycle events can also be celebrated with donations to the fund. Special birthdays, weddings, engagements, graduations or just to honor someone that you admire are all occasions to donate. You might even consider hinting to relatives that they make a donation to the fund in honor of your birthday each year
Annual & Lifetime Associate Memberships
Annual and Lifetime Associate Memberships are available for $5 per year or $50. FASCA sponsors many trips during the year, which are listed in the Flagtown Flyer, the Auburn Council on Aging newsletter. To view a current listing, visit our FASCA Trips page.
Gift Certificates
The FASCA Trip Coordinators, Lynne Guittar and Rich Hedin, also offers Gift Certificates, redeemable towards trips, that also make terrific presents to friends or family members that like to travel, but no matter how you might wish to support the Friends of the Auburn Senior Center Association, you can be assured that the donation will be used to keep the center in tip-top condition.
