The 2023 Census will be going out shortly. If someone living in your household has moved you may indict that, if they are a registered voter they must sign to be removed. There is a line for moved household members to sign or give an address we will mail a form to sign at their new address. Please sign and respond within ten (10) days, even if no changes are necessary. The signed census forms can be mailed back in the return envelope provided or scanned and emailed back: Contact the Town Clerk.
Please fill out, sign and return the Annual Street Listing Form (PDF) promptly. If you have a dog to register you can either fill out the bottom pet registration section and return with your census. Owners may license by mail, in person at the Town Clerk’s Office, or online (link is down at the moment).
Please be aware that as of January 1st, 2022, there was a fee increase for delinquent dog accounts for annual dog licensing. It is important to note that this increase will NOT affect any owners who license on time or within the same calendar year of the licensing due date. This delinquency fee will ONLY affect owners who have failed to previously license for a full calendar year or longer. This fee will include the full cost of a dog license for the year, or years, that the dog was not licensed with the Town.
If you have not already done so, please be sure to license your dog for the 2022 season to avoid any additional fees in 2023.
if you no longer have your dog, you must report that information to the Town Clerk’s Office so your dog can be removed from the system. If you have any questions, please contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 508-832-7701 or Animal Control at 508-832-7703.
In accordance with the provisions of §137, 137A of Chapter 140 of the General Laws the Town of Auburn issues dog licenses.
The licensing application period for dog and kennel licenses in Auburn runs from January 1st until March 31st; though applications are always accepted, even after that period ends. There is still time to license your dogs before late fees or penalties set in! So If you haven’t done so already, you can license your dog at the Town Clerk’s Office at Town Hall during normal business hours (Monday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m, Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.), send in your license application and payment through the mail with your census.
At this time dog licenses can only be paid in person or mailed in. Dog license applications can be found on the Permits & Licenses page.
The current licensing fees are as follows:
Any person 70 years of age or older, upon proof of age and ownership shall be exempt from the annual fee one dog, per household.
Dogs should be Licensed by April 1st of each year. The Census forms are sent out in January. On the bottom of the census form is a dog license form. To license by mail, fill out the form and enclose a check to cover the fee, with a stamped addressed envelope.
Town bylaw imposes a $10 late fee per dog if not licensed by April 30th of each year. If you would prefer, you can license online. (This is a new licensing system. If you experience any issues, please call the Town Clerk’s office at 508-832-7701 so we can get those resolved.) If you have licensed a dog in the past you will be able to license online, provided your rabies is up to date.
Kennel licenses are issued when the location meets the requirements of the bylaws and is approved by the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Auburn.
